Mosaic magic at Warburton Primary School

What a way to bring the school logo to life!

What a way to bring the school logo to life!

What a proud day it was for the children, staff and families of Warburton Primary School yesterday when the mosaic project, led by our wonderful local artist Sioux Dollman, was unveiled! Congratulations to all the children for their amazing work on the project this term on a piece of art that really matters, and will be enjoyed for decades to come. We love funding this kind of work in our community – just another way sponsorship is supporting local life.

Popular mosaic and ferro-cement render sculptress and artist Sioux Dollman bought the  blank wall at Warburton Primary School to life during term 4.  Children at the school have been involved in designing and mosaicing a series of large panels featuring the school’s emblem, a platypus by the river, to add a sparkle to the front entrance of the school. Our funding, which corresponded with the 2 millionth dollar of sponsorship awarded in the community, has supported Sioux’s time and materials to bring this awe-inspiring project to life.

Principal Cameron Heath has been amazed at how quickly the piece has taken shape. ‘The children have really enjoyed spending time each week on the project which has had input from the whole of the school,’ he says. The official unveiling of the mosaic was on 6 December.
