A well-earned cuppa for Jan Bettess
Wesburn cancer survivor Jan Bettess finished a sever-year fundraising campaign on a high list week hosting 120 guests to her final Biggest Morning Tea.
Jan has raised $41,217.95 over the years for Cancer Council’s annual fundraiser.
She was undergoing treatment for cancer in 2007 when a few friends joined her for the fist event. It raised $64. In 2008 the tally was $165 and the next year, things really took off with $2455 raised.
There were mixed emotions as Jan announced it was her last Biggest Morning Tea – applause in recognition of the fantastic effort Jan and her helpers have put in over the years, and disappointment that something so wonderful had come to an end. This year the event raised $10,000.
Warburton and Yarra Junction Community Bank branches have provided sponsorship funding to Jan each year, contributing to a prize pool to support fundraising activities on the day.
We wish Jan wellness and happiness in the future. She is a huge asset to our community!
