Congratulations to TALEI WHITESIDE !!!
Winner of our 2024 Ian De La Rue Youth Initiative Award
Talei has demonstrated that she is truly a shining light and an inspiration to all.
We are truly privileged with the contribution that she has made to our Community.
TALEI was nominated by KATE FEAGAN her Year Level Leader at UPPER YARRA SECONDARY COLLEGE in Yarra Junction.
A perfect role model TALEI has given to and looked out for others throughout her life and never asks for anything in return. Even whilst studying for Year 12 she remained selfless as School Captain and always been there to support other students and community members whilst still committing to her studies and completing them in an exemplary manner. Her contributions include:
- Upper Yarra Secondary College – Year Level Captain, School Captain
- Gladysdale Primary School – designed and created Grade 6 uniforms when uniform supplies were destroyed; photographer and publisher to website; moving and relocating the Art Room
- Christian Youth Camp – camp volunteer most school holidays
- Warburton Anglican Church – runs the Tech desk fortnightly including connecting with online participants
And a word from Talei…….
Thank you so much, I am so honoured to receive this Ian De La Rue Youth Initiative Award.
When I first received the call from June I was overwhelmed with a mix of shock, excitement and gratitude. This recognition means so much to me, mostly because it reminds me of the incredible support system I have had throughout my life.
I want to thank the Bendigo Bank Warburton and Yarra Junction for valuing students and providing these platforms to encourage us to keep striving.
An Annual Youth Award initiative of Upper Yarra Community Enterprise Ltd made possible by the generous support of Bendigo Bank Community Bank Warburton and Community Bank Yarra Junction it opens for Nominations in October.
