Our community is the proud owner of a new Community Bank Bus. Available to local community groups, schools, sporting clubs and local people, the Community Bank Bus is a well established and much valued service that makes not only getting around town but also getting out of the valley more affordable and easy.
The new Community Bank Bus seats 24 people (plus driver, LR licensed) and offers significantly improved features on our much loved old bus including air conditioning, a CD player, power steering and ABS brakes. Jeff Gill of the Warburton Advancement League (WAL), the group that manages the bus, expects the new bus to serve the community for at least ten years!
The Warburton and Yarra Junction Community Bank(R) branches, who funded the original bus, are pleased to fund this upgrade. Sponsorship funding does its best work when it can be invested in something that can then generate its own income and be sustainable. Bus hire fees are an important source of fundraising for WAL, providing money that can then be used for other important community initiatives. It really is an ‘everyone wins’ scenario.
The Community Bank Bus in available for hire any day of the week (24-hours notice appreciated) at low to minimal cost depending on kilometres travelled/hours. (Maximum charge $250 per day). A driver can be arranged.
In the last year the old bus has been hired more than 150 times – the new bus is ready to help even more community members get moving this year!
